Own sheep herd
Blackface
Onsøyen Gård has a great herd of blackface sheep, where all meat is processed and served on the farm. Here you can taste "untraveled" lamb and sheep in scenic surroundings. In addition, we serve local ingredients from cattle, pigs, wild salmon and vegetables from the Trondheims matperler network.
Foodhouse Jacob's says the following about blackface sheep: "The quality of blacksface sheep, lamb is so high quality, that you will hardly find a better lamb flavor," which many of our visitors confirm.
Our sheep are outside all year round, grazing in Bymarka in the summer and being fed in the winter around the farm.
Here you can enjoy good locally produced ingredients from the farm, as well as several farms in Byneset that we use in our menu, in our cozy, log-built premises "Åsgård".
With a fantastic view of the Trondheimsfjord, your own fire pits and enough wood to create a cozy atmosphere outside and in your tent's beautiful wood-burning stove.
Comfortable double beds and the possibility of adding 2 extra mattresses. Lovely blankets and a seating area. Countless selfies have been taken from our 3 tents with this view. A perfect setting for a romantic overnight stay or to gather as a couple of friends or family.
Åsgård Wedding , Course/conference function room
Åsgård is originally the cowshed on the farm where cows, calves and bulls were last fed 40 years ago. Was used as a storage space after the change from cattle to sheep farming, which has been the primary industry since then. An "unobstructed" room since the ceiling hangs from the ceiling above, which gives a room with a good view no matter where you sit. The timbered walls and ceiling have been kept original since it was built in 1936. A lot of work and history is in the walls here. Renovation started in 2018 and completed 2020
Midgard, course/conference function room
Midgard is a room that is suitable for smaller groups up to a maximum of 30 people. It is also used in a course/conference context where you want to divide into groups. At a long table, the capacity is 20 people. Midgard is built with a wooden wall, standing columns in wooden timber, special lighting that provides a good atmosphere.
The Onsøykampen is our own variation of the Champion of Champions. A low-threshold competition that is suitable for everyone, and contributes to unity and lots of fun.
We also have a partnership with Klefstadhaugen Skotthyllklubb which is a 10-15 minute walk from us. I dare say this is Norway's finest course where you get instruction in the game from the veterans.
